What a start to our Styled shoots for 2017! Steampunk Styled Wedding Shoot. This is my favorite of all times… Alice in Wonderland Steampunk Wedding. Unique and beautiful is some of the words that comes to mind. Only a photographer as good as Jacques from Studio 25 could manage to take the beauty of this theme into a magical styled shoot.
So proud of one of the ECTA Creative Solutions students – Elizca Smit. As part of her practical she planned this Steampunk styled wedding shoot and I do think that it is absolutely brilliantly done!Thank you Yolandi for being a beautiful Steampunk bride! Vicki V – you are great with makeup!
What is Steam Punk and how on earth did we decide on this being on of our themes for our styled shoots in 2017?
Many would shake their heads in disagreement or confusion when hearing that we would incorporate the Steam Punk theme into a styled wedding shoot and yes we know this is not at all the traditional wedding style that most would go for, in fact this is completely unordinary and downright strange!
Yes, yes and yes we know, but here’s the thing our team is any and everything but ordinary and I myself have never been the traditional type. We are a funky bunch here at Imagine Events, a team full of talents and we are always keeping our minds open to new and interesting things and what better than to play with a Steampunk Styled Wedding Shoot.
What is a Steampunk Wedding theme?
What is Steam Punk and how did we decide on this theme:
According to Wikipedia Steam Punk or neo-Victorian is a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th century industrial steam-powered machinery.
Steam Punk works are often set in an alternative history of the 19th century’s British Victorian era.
Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy that explores the nature of art, beauty and taste with the creation and appreciation of beauty.
The theme itself has had my interest for quite a few years and never have I had the opportunity to playfully get creative with what is already an art on its own, when we were told that we would each get wedding themes to plan and organise for the styled shoots I jumped at the chance to work on this theme. Once my outburst of what sounded like a proposal in my mind was approved by the owner I couldn’t wait to get started!
Now to all future brides out there, here is what I hope to achieve.
Like I’ve mentioned I have been a fan on this theme for years, but why did I really choose it and how did it all work out?
Personally the look of doubt on the faces of some inspired me to pull this off even more than the words of encouragement and more than my excitement, however this was not my motivation. In a harsh world of judgement and a tough and competitive industry we sometimes forget who we are and what we love, and do things purely to keep the peace or impress others…and if you are currently planning your wedding or in fact doing anything for these reasons you should stop right now.
Before making others happy, we first need to be happy ourselves.
This is your wedding, your life, heck this is you and you should love everything about that.
At the end of the day your significant other chose to be with you because of who you are so take this day, this opportunity to celebrate your wedding for who and what you are and for whom your partner is. What I am trying to say is don’t be afraid to take a chance and show the world that even those who aren’t ordinary or even always socially accepted can still find love, and have a great time.
Needless to say the Steam Punk shoot turned out to be a huge success and an even greater deal of fun. It was absolutely one of my favourites and it is most definitely a reminder that anything can be beautiful, if you could just stop and take a second to see it.
Be yourself at all costs, because you are beautiful,
You are art.
